Kharazmi University Team Advances to Knockout Stage of International Arbitration Moot Competition

With the support of the International Relations Center, a student team from the Faculty of Law and Political Science represented Kharazmi University at the Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2026 and successfully advanced to the Round of 16.
Despite challenges caused by internet disruptions and limitations on international travel, the team completed and submitted all required written memorials on time. Following the organization of alternative online rounds for teams from the Middle East and Africa, the Kharazmi team delivered a strong performance and secured a place in the knockout stage of the competition.
Although subsequent technical difficulties and internet connectivity issues prevented the team from continuing its participation under optimal conditions, reaching the elimination rounds reflects the students’ strong academic preparation, advocacy skills, and commitment to excellence in an international competitive environment.
Kharazmi University congratulates the team on this notable achievement and remains committed to supporting student participation in global academic competitions.

Kharazmi Faculty Members Strengthen International Research Partnerships through Overseas Academic Missions

In line with Kharazmi University's commitment to expanding international academic engagement and research collaboration, two faculty members recently undertook scholarly missions at prestigious international institutions.
Dr. Farzaneh Sasanpour, Professor of Human Geography at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, conducted a research stay at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, from August to December 2025. Her research focused on emerging themes in smart urban governance, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and future city development. During her stay, she also participated in academic discussions and collaborative exchanges with international scholars, opening new avenues for future research partnerships.
In a separate academic mission, Dr. Fatemeh Parchakani, Associate Professor of Arabic Language and Literature, spent six months at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris beginning in October 2025. Her visit centered on a research project entitled “Dramatizing Poetry as Social Discourse in Contemporary Arabic Poetry.” In addition to conducting research, she delivered specialized courses on the history of translation in West Asia and the Mediterranean, as well as Eastern and Iranian theatre, for undergraduate and graduate students.
These international engagements contribute significantly to strengthening Kharazmi University's research and educational capacities, fostering global academic networks, and enhancing the university's international visibility.

First “Talk & Tea” Session Promotes English Communication Skills

The International Relations Center of Kharazmi University hosted the first session of its new “Talk & Tea” series, designed to enhance students’ English communication and presentation skills.
Held at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, the event provided an interactive environment where students could practice speaking English while sharing their ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Students from Law, Accounting, Urban Planning, and Architecture actively participated through presentations and group discussions.
The “Talk & Tea” initiative forms part of the university's broader efforts to strengthen students’ international competencies and language proficiency. Additional sessions are planned throughout the academic year.

Exploring Opportunities for Academic Collaboration with Arab Open University in Oman

As part of Kharazmi University's ongoing efforts to expand its international engagement, Dr. Ali Tahayi visited the Muscat branch of Arab Open University (AOU) in Oman and held discussions with the university's leadership.
The meeting brought together the President of the University, the Director of International Affairs, and the Director of Academic Affairs. Discussions focused on potential areas of academic cooperation, exchange of educational experiences, and opportunities for involving visiting professors in joint activities.
Representatives of Arab Open University welcomed the prospect of strengthening academic ties and formally invited the President of Kharazmi University to visit the institution and pursue future collaborative initiatives.
Arab Open University is one of the leading higher education networks in the Arab region, operating branches across several countries in partnership with The Open University of the United Kingdom.

Kharazmi University participated in EduTrac Oman 2025, the International Higher Education Exhibition held in Muscat from September 29 to October 1, 2025, to introduce its academic, research, and international programs to prospective students and higher education institutions across the region.
Representing Kharazmi University, Dr. Ali Tahayi joined delegates from several leading Iranian universities at the event. The exhibition brought together universities and higher education institutions from around the world, including participants from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, China, Malaysia, India, and various Arab countries.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, meetings were held with representatives of several international universities to explore opportunities for academic cooperation, student exchange, and broader institutional partnerships.
Participation in EduTrac Oman 2025 provided a valuable platform for promoting Kharazmi University's international profile and expanding its global academic connections.

Scientific Field Visit of International Students of Climatology from Kharazmi University to Aghdasiyeh Synoptic Weather Station

Within the framework of developing international scientific and educational cooperation and with the aim of enhancing practical training at Kharazmi University, a group of Iraqi students participated in a scientific–educational field visit to the Aghdasiyeh Synoptic Meteorological Station. The visit was held on Tuesday, 9 December 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Mehry Akbary, Associate Professor of Climatology at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, Kharazmi University.
During the visit, students of climatology became familiar with the structure and mission of synoptic meteorological stations, as well as standard methods for measuring atmospheric elements, including temperature, humidity, air pressure, evaporation, wind speed and direction, and precipitation. They were also introduced to the processes of data collection, quality control, recording, and transmission of meteorological data to national and international networks. The station observer provided technical and specialized explanations and highlighted the importance of meteorological data in weather forecasting, natural hazard management, environmental planning, and climate change studies.
This scientific visit provided a valuable opportunity for international students to become acquainted with the country’s technical capacities and infrastructure in the field of meteorology and contributed significantly to strengthening their practical understanding of related theoretical and applied concepts. Moreover, the program was conducted in line with promoting regional scientific interactions and exchanging educational experiences between students and specialized institutions.

The international students expressed their appreciation to the Faculty of Geographical Sciences of Kharazmi University and the experts of the Aghdasiyeh Meteorological Station, describing the visit as an effective initiative in complementing academic education and enhancing practical knowledge of meteorological and climatological processes.

Joint Meeting Between Kharazmi University and Al-Mustansiriyah University of Iraq

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, a joint meeting was held between Kharazmi University and Al-Mustansiriyah University at the International Relations Office of Kharazmi University in Tehran, attended by a delegation from Al-Mustansiriyah University’s College of Art and a number of Kharazmi University vice-presidents and directors. 
The meeting aimed to enhance academic and scientific collaboration, in particular the activation of previously signed agreements between the two universities. During the discussions, the strategies for developing scientific and cultural cooperation were reviewed. In particular, an executive agreement was reached regarding the faculty and student exchange, students  scholarships, holding joint conferences and workshops.

Al-Iraqia University Delegates visited Kharazmi University's Karaj Campus

On Wednesday, Khordad 7, 1404 (May 28, 2025), a high-ranking delegation from Al-Iraqia University, Iraq, visited the Karaj Campus of Kharazmi University with the aim of expanding academic and scientific collaborations. The visit, attended by university officials, faculty members, and international relations specialists, showcased Kharazmi University's educational, research, and technological capabilities. 
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Azimi, Director of the International Relations Office at Kharazmi University, welcomed the Iraqi delegation and emphasized the importance of strengthening academic ties between the two neighboring countries. He introduced Kharazmi University as one of Iran's leading and historically rich higher education institutions. 
Dr. Bijan Abdollahi, President of Kharazmi University, also welcomed the delegation and expressed hope that after signing the memorandum of agreement, the necessary conditions for its implementation would soon be established to maximize the potential of both universities at the highest level. 
Subsequently, both parties held a joint meeting to explore areas of cooperation, focusing on joint educational programs, establishing collaborative research networks, faculty and student exchanges, research projects in humanities, basic sciences, and engineering, as well as facilitating the admission of Iraqi students to Kharazmi University. 
The Iraqi delegation expressed satisfaction with Kharazmi University's academic standards and facilities and announced their full readiness to formalize the MoU and begin practical collaborations. 
During the visit, the guests toured various research sections of the Karaj Campus, including companies located in the Technology Incubator Center, the Central Library, research centers, and educational facilities. This visit marks an important step toward strengthening academic relations between Iran and Iraq and laying the groundwork for more constructive university-level interactions.

Trilateral Meeting Between Kharazmi University, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, and Al-Iraqia University

On Tuesday, Khordad 6th (May 26, 2025), a meeting was held between Kharazmi University, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, and Al-Iraqia University at Kharazmi University’s Daneshsara Hall, attended by the university’s board of directors, representatives from K. N.  Toosi University, and a high-ranking delegation from Al-Iraqia University. The meeting aimed to enhance academic and scientific collaboration. 
In this meeting, Dr. Bijan Abdollahi, the president of Kharazmi University, announced the beginning of a new chapter in scientific, educational, and research cooperation between Kharazmi University (Iran) and Al-Iraqia University (Iraq). He introduced the university’s campuses in Tehran, Karaj, Jajroud, and Garmdareh, emphasizing the diversity of academic disciplines as one of its key strengths. He  noted that Kharazmi University ranks among the top 9% of over 21,000 universities worldwide in the CWUR rankings and holds the 10th position nationally. Referring to the shared vision of both universities in academic excellence, innovation, research, and cultural exchange, he proposed several initiatives to expand joint cooperation. 
Next, Dr. Ali Saleh Hussein, the president of Al-Iraqia University, pointed out that Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi and Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi—two great Iranian scholars—are buried in Iraq, underscoring the deep cultural and scientific ties between the two countries. While introducing Al-Iraqia University, he mentioned that although it was established in 1989, making it younger than Kharazmi University, it has become one of Iraq’s leading universities in engineering and technical fields. Dr. Hussein thanked Kharazmi University for its hospitality, stressed the potential for joint collaboration, and expressed readiness to implement a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. 
Later, Dr. Hadizadeh, the academic vice president of K. N. Toosi University of Technology, presented an overview of the university’s scientific and research capabilities to foster joint cooperation. Subsequently, the research deputies of the three universities elaborated on their respective institutions’ research strengths.

Expanding Partnerships: Kharazmi University and Turkish Embassy Plan Joint Initiatives in Education and Research

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 8:00 AM, a meeting was held at the office of the President of Kharazmi University, attended by the Educational and Cultural Attaché of the Turkish Embassy and their accompanying delegation, the President of Kharazmi University, and the Director and Deputy Director of the University’s International Relations Office.
Organized through coordinated efforts between both parties and facilitated by the International Scientific Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the meeting focused on strengthening academic and educational collaborations between Iranian and Turkish institutions. Both sides acknowledged the distinguished academic legacies of their respective universities and expressed a shared commitment to fostering deeper institutional partnerships that would yield mutual benefits.
Discussions emphasized the importance of linguistic and cultural exchange as a cornerstone of academic cooperation. It was mutually agreed that both Iranian and Turkish students would have the opportunity to study and learn each other’s languages, promoting cross-cultural understanding and engagement. Furthermore, a structured framework for faculty and student exchanges was outlined, facilitating research and academic mobility between the two countries.
To formalize these initiatives, both parties concurred on drafting a memorandum of understanding in accordance with the regulations of the International Scientific Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Following its review and endorsement by the Turkish Embassy, the memorandum will be forwarded to Hacettepe University in Ankara for official signing. This agreement will serve as the foundation for collaborative efforts in environmental, economic, legal, and cultural studies, reinforcing the long-term commitment of both nations to advancing academic and research cooperation.

Iran-Iraq Week of Science 2025: Fostering Academic and Technological Cooperation

Al-Zahra University in the holy city of Karbala is hosting the second Iran-Iraq Week of Science from January 17 to January 20, 2025. The event is bringing together university presidents and international vice presidents from leading institutions across both countries.

In addition to the esteemed university leaders, notable attendees include Dr. Sarraf, the Honorable Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran; Dr. Habiba, Head of the Iranian Student Organization; Dr. Rezaeifar, International Vice President and Director of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation; Dr. Al-Aboudi, the Honorable Minister of Higher Education of Iraq; and numerous high-ranking officials from both nations. Mr. Rostami, the representative of the Supreme Leader in Iranian universities, along with his delegation, will also be present.

The event also features Dr. Bijan Abdollahi, the distinguished head of Kharazmi University, and Dr. Ali Azimi, the respected director of the International Relations Office at Kharazmi University, alongside their counterparts.

The event's overarching goal is to strengthen the ties between Iran and Iraq and promote scientific and technological cooperation in line with both nations' strategic priorities.

Key objectives include fostering collaboration between universities and research institutes, creating communication channels between prominent global universities and those in Iran and Iraq, conducting joint research in science and technology, advancing education and training in emerging technologies for faculty, professors, and specialists, facilitating exchange programs for students and faculty at all educational levels in fields such as engineering, sciences, mathematics, humanities, medicine, and agriculture, and enhancing interactions between professors from both countries.

The conference also aims to establish infrastructure for academic exchanges among professors from Islamic countries, encourage joint investments in advancing science and technology, and promote the development of global science and technology-based markets. Vice President for Administrative, Financial, and Resource Development Meets with International Relations Center Team

The meeting was held at the center’s office.
The session began with a warm welcome from Dr. Azimi, Director of the International Relations Center. He provided a comprehensive report on the center’s achievements and initiatives, highlighting the hard work and commitment of its staff. He also expressed his sincere gratitude for their contributions to the university's success. Dr. Elahi emphasized the vital role of international engagement in advancing the university’s strategic goals and global reputation. He commended the team for their exceptional efforts, particularly in successfully attracting international students, and reiterated the importance of their work in elevating the university’s global standing. During the meeting, participants shared their ideas and suggestions for enhancing the university’s performance in international collaborations.

Dr. Elahi, while expressing gratitude for the efforts of the colleagues at the International Relations Office, addressed the most important notable issues related to this center. In addition to answering colleagues' questions, he discussed the key administrative and financial actions taken to fulfill commitments related to the recruitment of international students. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts and assured that the commitments related to international students will be pursued and fulfilled as soon as possible.
The event concluded with a ceremony where certificates of appreciation were presented to each staff member in recognition of their outstanding efforts. The session reflected the university’s commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. First International Conference on Strategies for Scientific Dominance Held at Kharazmi University

The first International Conference on Strategies for Scientific Dominance, organized by the Student Affairs Organization and the Center for International Studies at Kharazmi University, took place on Wednesday, August 28th. The event, held at the Abureyhan Hall on Kharazmi University's Tehran campus, served as a prelude to the upcoming 1st International Fair of Study in Iran (IFSI). It brought together senior officials from the Student Affairs Organization, vice presidents, international relations directors from universities across Iran, and other key figures in higher education.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Azimi Vaghar, Director of International Relations Office at Kharazmi University, welcomed attendees and highlighted the conference as a landmark event aimed at fostering dialogue on maximizing the recruitment of international students in Iran. He emphasized the role of Iranian universities in this endeavor, noting their potential to play a crucial part in global policy-making. Dr. Azimi also underscored Iran’s commitment to strengthening its position as an international scientific authority through strategic investments in higher education.
Dr. Salmanpour, Advisor to the President of the Student Affairs Organization and the Head of the IFSI headquarter, followed with a detailed presentation on strategies for attracting international students via foreign representations and the impact of educational exhibitions on student decisions. He announced the 1st International Fair of Study in Iran (IFSI), scheduled to take place from October 7th to 10th at the Grand Mosalla of Imam Khomeini in Tehran. Dr. Salmanpour stressed the need for meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the success of this significant event.
Continuing the discussion, Dr. Abtahi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center at the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, addressed key points on inviting international guests to the exhibition. He covered essential topics such as preparation, understanding the demands of the higher education market, and effectively executing exhibition events.
Additionally, Dr. Bagheri, Head of the Scientific Dominance Think Tank at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, shared insights on the factors contributing to the realization of national scientific authority. He discussed the historical context, recent efforts, and announced the upcoming first National Conference on Scientific Authority, set for November 2023.
In another part of this conference, Dr. Souzanchi, Director-General of International Student Affairs, highlighted the International Exhibition on Iran’s Academic Attractions as a vital opportunity for stakeholders in international student recruitment to exchange experiences. He noted that the exhibition, featuring over 400 booths, will provide a comprehensive showcase of Iran's academic strengths and serve as a key platform for enhancing international collaborations.
The conference concluded with specialized workshops and a brainstorming session among university international office leaders, focusing on strategies for attracting international students and refining preparations for the upcoming exhibition. The hope is that this conference will play a pivotal role in elevating Iran’s scientific standing on the global stage, increasing international student enrollment, and ensuring the successful execution of the first exhibition of its kind in Iran.

The Second Meeting of International Office Directors and Representative of Iranian Universities for Second International Fair of Study in Iran (IFSI) Arrangement

In preparation for the upcoming Second International Fair of Study in Iran (IFSI), Kharazmi University hosted the second coordination meeting for international managers and deputies from universities nationwide. This significant event took place on Sunday, June 2, in the university's Abu Rayhan Hall. Prominent attendees included Dr. Hassan Bigi, President of Kharazmi University; Dr. Dadashpour, Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the Student Affairs Organization; Dr. Salmanpour, International Advisor to the Student Affairs Organization and Executive Secretary of the Exhibition; Dr. Razaghi, Acting Director of the Office for Non-Iranian Student Affairs; Dr. Souzanachi, Acting Director of the Office for International Student Affairs; Dr. Azimi Vaghar, Director of the International Relations Office of Kharazmi; and Dr. Mohammadi Sani, alongside a wide array of managers and international representatives from the Ministry of Science and Health’s universities.

The meeting commenced with Dr. Azimi Vaghar extending a warm welcome to the participants, paying tribute to the martyrs of service, and introducing Kharazmi University. He expressed hope that the collective effort and solidarity would attract a global student body to Iran.

In the follow Dr. Hassan Beigi, the university president, offered condolences on the anniversary of the demise of the Islamic Republic’s founder and stressed the global importance of the event for enhancing Iran's academic and educational stature. He outlined the university's commitment to expanding international ties and enhancing its academic offerings, noting ongoing initiatives to increase international student enrollment to over 2,000 and develop advanced research facilities with international collaboration. Dr. Hassan Beigi affirmed the university’s readiness to significantly contribute to the upcoming international exhibition of educational attractions in Iran and to aid in advancing global higher education standards.

Following Dr. Hassan Beigi, Dr. Salmanpour discussed the strategic goals of the exhibition, emphasizing its role in raising educational appeal and showcasing leading Iranian universities on the international stage. He reiterated the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology's commitment to the internationalization of universities and the national goal of establishing Iran as a scientific authority. Additionally, he highlighted the crucial role of institutions that facilitate the recruitment of foreign students in promoting Iran’s educational capacities globally. He expressed optimism about the successful collaboration of universities in the upcoming exhibition, which he believes will positively influence the recruitment of international students and enhance Iran’s scientific and cultural exchange initiatives.

Dr. Dadashpour emphasized the importance of international festivals in attracting global students and expediting the internationalization of universities. He linked the presence of international students directly to the university’s global reputation and alignment with the Ministry of Science’s objectives under the Seventh Development Plan. This ambitious plan targets an enrollment of 320,000 international students by its conclusion, urging universities to allocate at least ten percent of their total enrollments to international students. He concluded by expressing hope that the forthcoming Educational Attractions Exhibition in Iran, set for October 2024, will prepare the ground for significant academic achievements and underscore the nation's educational prowess on the world stage.

The meeting concluded with a vibrant question and answer session, where university officials addressed various inquiries related to the exhibition's objectives and collaborative strategies. The event closed with communal prayers and lunch, symbolizing a unified commitment to achieving educational excellence and international cooperation.

We honor Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi as a distinguished leader whose substantial contributions have greatly enhanced the development of amicable relations and fruitful collaborations between Iraq and Iran. A virtual meeting was conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, between faculty members from the Department of Physical Education at Almustaqbal University and representatives of Kharazmi University. Delegates from Almustaqbal University expressed their strong enthusiasm and preparedness to participate in physical educational sessions hosted by Kharazmi University. Furthermore, the representatives of Kharazmi University formally authorized a proposal, which the Iraqi team put forth, to establish a summer school. Collaboration resulted in the publication of joint research initiatives and the organization of a sports conference to be held in Iraq, among other areas of mutual agreement. It was mutually agreed that Kharazmi University would receive a formal proposal from representatives of Almustaqbal University detailing the summer school initiative in the near future.

International symposium on

The "Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering Association of Kharazmi University" will host the first international symposium on "Advancements of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine in Islamic Countries" on May 15, 2024, virtually. Kharazmi University's Landmark On-line Meeting with Iraq’s Al-Mustaqbal University Yields Substantial Collaborative Commitments

On 6 May 2024, a pivotal online summit facilitated by Kharazmi University's International Relations Office (IRO) took place, led from its headquarters in Tehran. The meeting was graced by esteemed figures such as Dr. Memar, Head of International Student Admission and Services; Dr. Ghasemi, Director of International Cooperation and Partnerships; Dr. Mohajeri, Director of the Center for International Studies; Dr. Haji Sharifi, Deputy Head of Education at the College of Physics; Dr. Heidari of the Plasma Institute; and Dr. Haji Mohammadi, Head of the Inorganic and Nano Chemistry Department. Representing Iraq's Al-Mustaqbal University were Dr. Ali Abbas Zawain, Dr. Maytham Muqdadi, Dr. Riaz Salman, Dr. Samir Badrawi, and Dr. Furat, the respected Dean of the College of Sciences.

Dr. Ghasemi opened the proceedings with a warm welcome, highlighting the importance of such engagements for bolstering mutually beneficial international relations. The discussions, marked by fervor and collaborative spirit, led to the Iraqi delegation praising Iran's notable progress in scientific and industrial domains, advocating for intensified joint ventures in shared fields of interest.

The session concluded with several significant agreements designed to foster deeper cooperation between the two institutions:

1. Kharazmi University will extend access to its advanced physics and chemistry laboratories to Al-Mustaqbal's researchers. Concurrently, joint research initiatives are expected to yield publications meeting the high standards of Q1, Q2, and SCOPUS indexed journals, with Al-Mustaqbal University financing the publication fees.

2. On Al-Mustaqbal's request, Kharazmi University will host a series of summer schools, ranging from one to two weeks, with Al-Mustaqbal University underwriting all associated costs. Dates and schedules for these educational engagements will be announced shortly.

3. Kharazmi University has committed to developing comprehensive long-term online training programs aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of Al-Mustaqbal University’s faculty and staff, fully funded by the Iraqi institution.

4. A high-level delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University is scheduled to visit Kharazmi University within the next two months, specifically in July, to further these collaborative efforts.

The meeting adjourned with expressions of optimism from Dr. Ghasemi, who anticipated that such collaborative frameworks would significantly enrich the academic and cultural bonds between Iran and Iraq.

Kharazmi University’s Mathematics Faculty Students Shine in National Competition

Kharazmi University proudly announces that its Mathematics Faculty team clinched sixth place in the 46th National Student Mathematics Competition. The team, composed of some of the most gifted students from the faculty, was expertly guided by Dr. Nayereh Eliasi, a distinguished faculty member of the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Faculty. Their collective dedication and hard work have contributed another stellar achievement to Kharazmi University’s distinguished educational record.
The students who brought honor to Kharazmi University with their exceptional skills and dedication are:
• Gagik Anjargholi, who earned a silver medal, showcasing his exceptional talents.
• Amir Arsalan Badi Pa, Amir Mehdi Mohseni, and Ahad Alizadeh Aghbolaghi, each of whom was awarded a bronze medal for their outstanding performances.
• Mobin Amini, who was honored with a diploma of merit, demonstrating the significance of perseverance and commitment in achieving scientific objectives.
