A joint meeting between officials of Kharazmi University and Al-Mustansiriya University of Iraq was held on 21 September 2026, during the visit of a delegation from Al-Mustansiriya University to Kharazmi University. The meeting aimed to explore and further develop opportunities for academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Safa Taqi Al-Issawi, President of Al-Mustansiriya University; Dr. Abdul-Amir Madi Al-Aboudi, Dean of the College of Arts; Saad Mohammed Ali, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Sabah Kadhim Bahr, Director of the Department of Scientific Affairs; and Mohammed Abbas Mohammed, Director of the Department of Cultural Relations at Al-Mustansiriya University.

Representing Kharazmi University were Dr. Bijan Abdollahi, President of the University; Dr. Saffari, Vice President for Education; Dr. Tahaei, Dr. Jafari, and Dr. Shams from the International Cooperation Division; Dr. Bagheri, Head of the AZFA Center; Dr. Babaei, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Dr. Deyanti, Dean of the Faculty of Finance; and Dr. Khaleghi, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the establishment of a joint academic working group to identify and coordinate the academic capacities and potential of the faculties of both universities. It was agreed that areas of cooperation endorsed by the working group would be pursued and implemented in coordination with the respective deans of the faculties. Cooperation in the fields of desertification control and climate-related studies was also highlighted, along with coordination for the establishment of an AZFA Center at Al-Mustansiriya University.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and expanding academic and scientific interactions and expressed their appreciation for the previous cooperation between Kharazmi University and Al-Mustansiriya University. They also emphasized the continuation and further development of these collaborative efforts.
